Eclipse
How soon we forget what our elders respected
The pages disolve in our hands
So through the years all this hatred and fear
And prejudice haunting our dreams
The brighter the light, the deeper the shade
And you have fueled such a pyre
Your shadow surrounds me, eclipses, confounds me
While I'm blinded and scorched in your fire
How can we blame them, condemn or shame them
We have not learnt from their faults
To think we are clever in telling them never
The conscience we cannot exalt
Passion dismembers, entrenches, remembers
Ennobles our crudest desires
While crushing our dreams it controls and it schemes
Destroying and bruising it screams
So how can you say that you never meant it
To rip out my tortured heart
I lie here rejected, neglected, dejected
Grasping the life you depart
